My roommate spent $300 on hers this semester. Foreign language ones are the worst when it comes to prices.

Yea and its like the subject that is least likely to change. I mean sure there are new hip technological words, but I would use nazi propaganda books if I could learn german and it cost $249 less.

As an engineering student, I totally agree with all of this. I spent 150 dollars on a circuit board just for one class this semester, on top of 4 other $100+ textbooks

You could have bought a mail order German bride for not much more. I'd rather learn that way anyways.

I was lucky that I only spent about $200 this semester. Would have probably been brutal if my econ prof made us buy a book.

Yeah! and maybe she could teach me german in between pronouncing Porsche and other german cars for me. Probably wouldnt be able to afford to feed a german though.

I was always too lazy to shop around and just bought the used books from the school store for their inflated prices. I did figure out that if you peel off the store-printed Avery UPC label you can get the "one owner" price when you sell them back at the end of the semester.

Guys, have you ever heard of AbeBooks? They sell used books and cheap textbooks for a very good price. I bought a lot of physics and chemistry textbooks for around $10 each.

Some of them, specially the super-cheap ones, are from India, where textbooks are subsized, and in english. They aren't so well made as the original american or european versions, with a thinner paper and paperback binding, but the price is so damn good!

But since they're subsized, there are some warning that they're only legal on the Indian subcontinent. But whatever, textbooks costs are obscene in Brazil, so I buy from India. I even got an autograph from David Griffiths, author of an electromagnetic theory textbook on my "illegal" book.
